Vintage-Inspired Portrait

Beth

I’m sorry I have been so bad about posting pictures of things that I’m working on! I’ll definitely try to add more art as I get around to making it. I’ve challenged myself to try to do several paintings a week, so hopefully I’ll be posting here a lot more. Lately, I have spent most of my time working in my sketchbook instead of painting. I figure it’s about time I drag out my brushes again!

Anyway, here’s a piece that I just finished last night. It’s a little 4×6 portrait inspired by a vintage photo. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out…especially with the background. There are a few issues with her face, but all in all, I feel like I am slowly getting better at drawing. I think all of that work in my sketchbooks is paying off! I still need to work on lips and noses. I also need to get better at making eyes match with one another. Mastering this whole art thing takes time! I’m sure I’ll get there eventually, though, as long as I keep practicing 🙂 Thanks for stopping by to see what I’ve been up to!
