02/05/2014 – Abstract Flowers

Beth

Just a quick abstract painting of some flowers. I started with the background, allowing the colors to run and blend on the page. While it was still wet, I added salt to create some texture. If you look closely you can see some of the lighter, patterned areas created by the salt.

For each flower, I used several colors of paint to create the basic shape and shading that I wanted. Then, while the paint was still wet, I placed a piece of crumpled cellophane on top and arranged it how I wanted it. As the paint dried underneath the cellophane, it created the “petal” texture.
